Stop Motion

Senior Thesis Project 2020-2021

The interactions I have with loved ones have always pushed me to turn to my art. My own connection to my cat Boo turned into my whole thesis project. In my film, I wanted to share with others that even a seemingly simple relationship can influence and make life just a little bit brighter. He’s very near and dear to my heart and his personality is already so animated I thought it would translate well into a short animation. It's fun to replicate his erratic movement and wild expressions. I put focus on fabrication, leaning on a handmade look for my film, I want to leave the mark of my own hands in my work. Stop motion has been my way of breathing life into my art, similar to childhood playing. I’m fascinated by the way childhood and animation intersect with each other.
